Educators in the formal and non formal education sectors with an interest to act for the promotion of Education for Intercultural Citizenship in the Euro-Mediterranean region are invited to participate in the 2nd Alexandria Education Convention, to be organised by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria from 16 to 18 December 2012. | |
Following the 1st Alexandria Education Convention held in October 2011 and on the basis of its main recommendations, the 2nd Alexandria Education Convention will focus on involving 40 selected participants in a consultation process for the launch of a programme on Intercultural Citizenship Education and the production of a learning resource in this field addressed to the formal and non-formal education practitioners. The programme aims to support the development of educational practices and activities designed to help young people and adults play an active part in democratic life; in addition, it will support participants to exercise their rights and responsibilities in society, enhance their feeling of belonging to the community, local and global, as well as sensitising them to understand and appreciate the normality of different worldviews, customs and ways of life among human beings. |
The 2nd Alexandria Education Convention will be structured around plenary sessions and working groups. Participants should express an interest to act as multiplier of the programme and be involved in future activities for the promotion of education for intercultural citizenship in the Euro-Mediterranean region. |
