Conference "Wake up Europe: It's time to act!" 12-17 November 2012 Finland

UNITED for Intercultural Action organised a Conference, "Wake Up Europe: It's Time to Act! Creative approaches to tackle discrimination"from 12-17 November 2012, in Raasepori Finland aimed at sharing fresh strategies and best practices for the European antidiscrimination movement

UNITED is an independent and open network with 550 supprters from 48 European countries who work together on voluntary basis, and organises simila conferences twice or three times a year.This conference is part of the project "Europe bottom-up: Capacity Building in Anti-discrimination Youth Work" The main local organiser was Finnish youth council Alliansi.

Week long programme saw panel discussions with local and international experts, six different themed working group, it was possible to choose between various practical workshops and even programme included political cafe's, intercultural games and other activities to provide opportunities for sharing experiences and networking.

Participants in the were 85 (living in the countries of the Council of Europe) representatives of (inter)national antiracist, antifascist, refugee, human rights and minority rights organisations.
AMong them UNITED network members and supporters from elsewhere. Next conference takes place in Lithuania

Sillamäe Society for Child Welfare was the only participant organisation from Estonia represented by Taisi Valdlo.


Sillamäe Society for Child Welfare's participation in the conference was supported by National Civil Society Foundation thourgh the round of spreading the Estonian civil society experience internationally.
